7th & 8th Grades
Our Junior High program is rooted in Montessori pedagogy with project-based learning in history, writing, and theology and an introduction to classical literature through socratic seminar. At the same time, we incorporate traditional curriculum elements in mathematics, language arts and science to prepare students for a Classical high school experience. Opportunities for Montessori’s concept of the ‘valorization of the personality’ are critical at this point in the child’s development, so an emphasis is given to adult-like contributions to the community through participation in the student-run micro-economy, and opportunities for student-led community service.
